The cinnamon tree is perennial and measures approximately 10 to 15 meters and is from Sri Lanka. Cinnamon is a product of the shell of its sticks or trunk. Cinnamon, as it is well known, is used in the kitchen as a species, to give a special touch to foods and desserts. But cinnamon is not only good for this type of application.
In agronomy, cinnamon extract is used to prevent fungi, bacteria and mites, since it prevents their development in the crop. It contains natural substances such as cinnamaldehyde and cinnamic acid that cause the death, repellency and non-feeding of insects. In addition, they cause the excitation of the nervous system causing a concealment of the pheromones involved in the mating of insects.
Grupo Fagro together with its research and development center Biorganix created Biotika® Canel, a product with a high concentration of cinnamon extract. It is an acaricidal insecticide of organic origin for foliar application for crops and recommended pests. It can be applied outdoors and under controlled conditions in tropical, subtropical and temperate climates.
Action mode:
- Thanks to its natural compounds such as cinnamaldehyde, it forms a physical barrier that protects plants from attack by insects and mites.
- It has a repellency effect as it mimics the natural aroma and flavor of the plant. On contact, it causes a severe irritating effect on the cuticle of soft-bodied insects, affecting the nervous system and inhibiting feeding.
- In addition to the above effects, it masks sexual pheromones, thus preventing mating and reproduction.
Methods to prepare and apply the product:
With the proper protective equipment. Shake the product before use. To open the container, turn the cap counterclockwise and carefully remove the safety seal. Prepare a pre-mix in a bucket, measure the amount of product to be used with a plastic cylinder or with a specific graduated tool for this use, mix with water. In a 200 L drum, add water up to half its capacity, slowly pour the pre-mix into the drum, stir with the help of a stirrer, until you have a homogeneous mixture; fill the drum with the necessary water, and mix. Add mixture to spray tank or backpack sprayer Apply. Use a water volume of 200 L/Ha. ONCE THE CONTAINER IS OPENED, USE THE ENTIRE CONTENT OF THE PRODUCT.
