Longer shelf life, better avocados
Once the fruits, vegetables and flowers are harvested at their optimum point, especially the climacteric ones, their physiological changes of maturation (color, texture, flavor) continue, and their useful life is shortened. One of the great variables that influence is the environment, due to the presence of gases such as ethylene, as well as microorganisms and spores that induce the ripening of fruits, vegetables and flowers and their subsequent deterioration. To reduce losses and keep the product fresh for longer, a rigorous control of ethylene gas (ripening hormone) is necessary.
Ethylene Filters
Ethylene filters are the ideal tool for conservation rooms and transport with palletized cargo containers, it is the simplest, most economical and effective method to avoid rapid deterioration by ethylene gas, in perishable products, filters of ethylene in the area with the greatest passage of air in the refrigerated container.
Ripening in avocados can be delayed when gases with ethylene pass through the clay granules inside the filter, are incorporated into it and through an oxidation process, become harmless solids and are immediately removed from the environment, helping to have a greater time margin to consolidate their delivery and/or distribution of avocados.
Fagro Post Harvest Solutions offers a range of filters for the effective elimination of ethylene, which manage to ensure the efficient conservation of avocados during the phases of refrigerated transport in the cold chain and storage.
If we also take into account that these ethylene filters are fully compatible with organic and ecological agriculture, since they do not leave any type of residue on plant products, and are also very economical in relation to the load, there does not seem to be any reason to weight not to install them.
